R&B/Pop crooner Leonard Friend aka Alex Feder of the now defunct Brooklyn indie band The XYZ Affair unleashes his debut EP Lynyrd Frynd. He’s undergone a radical transformation, moved to Los Angeles and is making a unique hybrid of R&B, Pop and indie. Think LCD Soundsystem meets Justin Timberlake. Listen to the EP now on his website. Get a taste of The Cult’s new album, Choice of Weapon, with their single Lucifer streaming at Rolling Stone now. Their ninth studio album is set to be released on May 22nd. Choice of Weapon was written by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, recorded in New York City, Los Angeles, the California high desert, and the band’s Witch Mountain studio between July and December 2011. The new release features founding members Astbury on vocals and Duffy on guitars, with drummer John Tempesta and bassist Chris Wyse. “We have had the opportunity to work with two of the most influential and talented producers in the world today,” said Astbury. “They pushed us beyond our comfort zone, and helped us craft Choice of Weapon.” As their first album in 5 years, it will be definitely worth the wait!

The all-acoustic “Where’s The Band?” tour is currently out for its fourth iteration, with solo sets from returning upperclassmen Chris Conley (Saves the Day), Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids, The New Amsterdams), Anthony Raneri (Bayside), Ace Enders (The Early November, I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s Business) and Evan Weiss (Into It. This week Gentlemen Hall have premiered, in conjunction with Purevolume, the video for their new single “All Our Love.” The single was also featured in Jan. 17th’s episode of the CW hit series, 90210. The video was filmed in their hometown of Boston, MA, the video finds the band in a post-apocalyptic world, devoid of love. It’s up to the people to bring it back.
