bulletThird Eye Blind's New Album IS NUMBER ONE ON ITUNES

After six years of waiting for a new record from Third Eye Blind today is the day when you can finally go out and buy Ursa Major. Despite having it's release day pushed up due to an album leak the record still climbed straight to the top hitting the #1 album purchased on Itunes!

In light of Third Eye Blind's new album Ursa Major being posted online in a haphazard and somewhat lazy fashion, we are streaming the "correct" album and mix and proper presentation in all its glory for you to hear:

www.myspace.com/thirdeyeblind

"Wow! I leave the country and my album ends up leaking. I was in Jakarta performing for the fine citizens of Indonesia after their devastating terrorist attack -- I can't speak more highly of the country. I am asking for all those downloaders who illegally downloaded our new album, please donate some money to your local charity," says Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins.

"And to those leakers who posted the wrong album, well, shame on you for being lazy. You guys know the lyrics and presentation are important to us. Rock on!"

bulletNew video from The Sword on Stereogum

We are very excited to announce that our friends over at Stereogum are premiering the viral version of The Sword's new video for "Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians"!

The video is set in a post-apocalyptic world, thousands of years after the end of human civilization. A new race is born - one that has no idea that man had once ruled. The directors, Mike Colao and Josh Litwhiler, used a technique called "rotoscoping", where they traced over live-action film movement, frame by frame. The result is a visually captivating look into what could be the future of the human race as we know it.

WATCH THE "FIRE LANCES OF THE ANCIENT HYPERZEPHYRIANS" VIDEO

Yesterday also marked the release of the band's two-song, 10" picture disc. Although already sold out through Kemado, you can purchase the songs on iTunes.

bulletMake Your Own Counting Crows Video

COUNTING CROWS PRESENT:

Make Your Own Video

http://sneakattackmedia.com/sneakimages/news/Make_Your_Own_Counting_Crows_Video/TableHoriz_27.jpg

A note from Adam:

(Click HERE to read Adam's full MYOVideo blog post)

"So this was the thinking: people like to make their own videos nowadays. All you have to do is look at YouTube and you know it's true. Sure, there are all the big expensive videos the bands make themselves, the ones MTV and VH1 play, but there are way way way more that people just make by themselves. There are millions of talented people out there and lots of them have cameras and computers so they make videos.

And that's when it occurred to me...What was the one thing all those people making their own videos and setting them to our songs had no access to?

Footage. It was so simple. Pure raw footage of the band. That's what all those people needed to really make cool videos. All they needed was footage...and we had a ton of it.

So welcome to the NEW Counting Crows Download Page. You can still come here and download the mp3's of '1492' and 'When I Dream of Michelangelo' but now you're going to get something extra. Beginning today, you're going to get raw footage of the band recording and playing the songs live. So you can do whatever you want with it. Make a video by just editing together the stuff we give you. Make up your own plot, act it out your self or with your friends and then insert the band footage into just like we do when we make OUR videos. Or just check it out and see what Immy looked like on a single take of a song. It's up to you. It's yours now.

When you're done, whether you make it with your cell phone or with a professional camera, share it with us and everyone by uploading it to the Counting Crows Video YouTube Channel here:

Counting Crows MYOVideo YouTube Channel:

www.youtube.com/countingcrowsmyov

We're going to try and give you different stuff every week or two for a while or until we run out of things we're actually 'allowed' to give you but it all starts right here with 4 different feeds of studio footage from '1492.'

Here's what you get:

1) Me

2) Immy tearing his guitar to shreds

3) Immy (he was pretty annoyingly everywhere on this song) pummeling his bass into pulp

4) Jim beating the living crap out of his drum kit.

So have fun. Enjoy. Make us something cool and then give it to us so we can show it to EVERYONE.

And stay tuned for the announcement in the next few weeks of what you're getting next...because we GOT more so you're going to GET more."

bulletCounting Crows New Album: Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings

COUNTING CROWS Release
Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings

On March 25, Counting Crows will release their fifth studio album (and their first in five years), Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, on Geffen/Interscope.

Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings is just your average brilliant, unsparing rock &roll song cycle about the high life and the low life, about sin and whatever the hell follows. This is an album with two distinct yet deeply related halves:

Saturday Nights -- the album’s angry, electric, dissolute opening salvo -- was produced by Gil Norton (The Pixies, Foo Fighters.) The more acoustic and folk-influenced Sunday Mornings was produced by Brian Deck whose past credits include Modest Mouse and Iron &Wine.

DOWNLOAD
"1492" and "WHEN I DREAM OF MICHELANGELO"
from SATURDAY NIGHTS &SUNDAY MORNINGS

For Duritz, Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings is “about dissolution and disintegration. It’s about when Saturday night happens and you lose all sense of yourself. And it’s about when you wake up Sunday morning and look back at the wreck you’ve made of your life and you think, 'How can I possibly fix this? How can I ever climb out of this hole?' And then you start to try and climb.”

Duritz says of the inspiration for the title, “When I finally realized what this record was about and that it was actually going to be two different records that fit together as one, the title popped into my head immediately. It's a title that's been used before in slightly different forms more than once, but none of them were the inspiration for my title. That came from a late night stop at a truck stop somewhere in Georgia while we were touring August and Everything After.

"One day I grabbed this bizarre looking double-cassette by Ralph Stanley called Saturday Night & Sunday Morning. After that, you had to fight me to get it out of the stereo. It's just an unreal record about sin and redemption with inspired song choices and unearthly performances from Stanley himself and a sea of guests.

"These days, everybody wants to tell you how different every genre of music is and how one kind is good and another isn't. But on Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, country and bluegrass find a way to effortless prove that it's all really just music. Our album may not have much redemption in the end but we got all the sin I could live with and at least an attempt to try for something better."

NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

The Wishes And The Glitch is the fifth release from Say Hi principle Eric Elbogen (yes, this is the former Say Hi To Your Mom). It doesn't take too many spins to hear that something very different is happening on his latest effort. The barrage of indiepop songs that fills Wishes' thirty-six minutes is musically richer than anything Elbogen has done before. Keyboards chime and swoosh, drums bump, basslines wiggle and vocal melodies shoot and fall, converging at the expected intersections some places and surprising with new tangents others.

off The Wishes And The Glitch, in stores February 5, 2008

Newly transplanted to Seattle, WA, the Brooklyn, NY founded Say Hi formed in late 2002, as was Euphobia Records, a label started by Elbogen to facilitate the band's releases. After relocating to Seattle, Elbogen wrote and recorded The Wishes And The Glitch at his home studio over the bulk of 2007. Touring keyboardist/vocalist Nouela Johnston (the touring line-up for Say Hi is ever-evolving) contributed vocals on three of the songs. The Long Winters' John Roderick and Pedro The Lion / Headphones' David Bazan also sing on a track each. Everything else was performed by Elbogen, himself.

Beginning in February, Say Hi will be heading out on tour in support of The Wishes And The Glitch. Below are all the confirmed tour dates, including some SXSW love.

bulletSunny Day Sets Fire Re-mixes It Up

On February 26, the ever-effervescent psych-pop band Sunny Day Sets Fire will release the Stranger / Remix EP (IAMSOUND) featuring remixes by CSS, XXXChange from Spank Rock, Diplo and The Cool Kids.  The main track, "Stranger," is a sneak peek from their forthcoming full-length, coming out later this spring, and you can check it out here:

Stranger

With members hailing from Italy, Hong Kong, the UK and Canada, it's no surprise that the now London-based group's sound is as diverse and ecclectic as it is.  Their music is a refreshing take on psychedelic and experimental pop --  colorful, inventive and yet still catchy enough for everyone to enjoy.

With an eye firmly focused on the soaring beauty of classic pop moments, the music of Sunny Day Sets Fire reflects their shared loves – 60’s psych, the Beach Boys, classic Sun rock ‘n’ roll and far beyond.  Be on the lookout for the band in New York, Los Angeles, and at SXSW.

bulletIntroducing KERLI -- 3-song EP available now

We are proud to welcome Kerli to the Sneak Attack roster. Her new 3-song EP entitled Kerli is available on iTunes now!

Kerli's life story is nothing short of a Cinderella story. Growing up in Elva, Estonia, a then Russian-occupied town of 5,000 residents, Kerli had dreams and aspirations that pushed way beyond the boundaries of her communist surroundings. A product of "tough love," she spent most of her childhood trying to mentally escape and did so by immersing herself in the arts, studying singing, ballet, acting and classical piano. However, she soon realized what would be her main focus. "By the time I turned 14, I was so sure that my life was going to be all about singing, I quit everything else," Kerli recalls.

Her first breakthrough came with participating in Fizz Superstar 2002, a young Baltic talent competition equivalent to American Idol. She first heard of the contest through a television advertisement that stated 15 as the minimum age to enter. Being 14 wasn't going to stop her, so she lied about her age and entered. Her unquestionable natural talent shined through and she was crowned the winner, gifted with a record deal as the prize. Unbeknownst to her, her career was about to skyrocket. Eventually she caught the ear of executives at Island Records, a label based over 4,000 miles from where she got her start. In June of 2005, Kerli was invited to perform for IDJ Chairman L.A. Reid; he was blown away by her performance and she was signed to Island on the spot.

Kerli takes inspiration from everything and everyone around her. She cites the universe as her muse. "I appreciate all the music in the world. Music is sacred. It's the language of God." Her songs encapsulate emotions of heartbreak and rebellion but are sung with a twinge of playfulness. The songs are somber and intense, but also mischievous and impishly dynamic. "I'm trying to create a world around my music. And this world needs to be pure, real, honest and beautiful but still a little interesting, dark and definitely mysterious." Kerli notes "Love Is Dead" as her favorite track off her debut album. "It's hard and dark enough, yet beautiful and light. When I shot the video for that song, I looked into that camera and sang to every person who has ever hurt me. It was almost like a therapeutic experience."

Kerli has undoubtedly created anthems for the youth of today. Her beautiful voice is strong, determined and at some times unpredictable, not unlike her personality. She has admitted to not wanting to follow the example of any of her musical peers or predecessors. "Silence and my own thoughts are much more inspiring to me than someone else's song. I don't think any other artist has ever even influenced me that much, really. Music just comes from such a sacred place and it either comes to you or not."

bulletLou Reed: New Songs Inspired by Nanking Documentary

Lou Reed has been known to be intensely moved by historical and international events and conflicts. Just recently, Reed composed and recorded two brand new songs -- “Gravity” and “Safety Zone” -- both inspired by the soon-to-be released film NANKING--a powerful and relevant documentary that tells the story of the Japanese invasion of Nanking, China, in the early days of World War II. It is an emotional reminder of the heartbreaking toll that war takes on the innocent, and a testament to the courage and conviction of a few individuals determined to act in the face of evil.

The events of the film are told through deeply moving interviews with Chinese survivors, archival footage, and chilling testimonies of Japanese soldiers, interwoven with staged readings of the Westerners’ letters and diaries as performed by Woody Harrelson, Mariel Hemingway, Jurgen Prochnow, and Stephen Dorff, among others.

Presented by THINKfilm, directed by the Academy-Award-winning team of Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman and marking the producing debut of AOL Vice Chairman Emeritus Ted Leonsis, Nanking premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007 and was the winner of the 2007 Sundance Documentary Editing Award. The film will be released on December 12 in New York City at The Film Forum followed by a national release in January 2008.

bulletFrom the Depths of Maynard - Puscifer!

PUSCIFER.

Yet another appendage sprouting out of the anomaly known as Maynard James Keenan:

Puscifer is Maynard’s multifaceted, multimedia, multi-artist, multi-personality project. It involves film, music, digital video, garments, feminine hygiene products, coffee, pet supplies, websites, blogs, artist collaborations, a few office supplies, and a grip on the idea that chaos is good and that change is inevitable. The release date for the full collection of songs titled V is for Vagina is Oct. 30, and the scheduled unveiling of several new pieces and garments, available only at puscifer.com, is Sept. 27, the birthday of Maynard’s Yorkie and sidekick, Miho (also rumored to be an alias.)

"...Lead singer (Ryann Donnelly) has a voice that can be charming and endearing one minute and then out of nowhere attack you with dark and violent imagery that this band does so well with." - TruePunk.com

"Like the Misfits, they have that horror movie vibe to them and adds an eerie factor as well. Even with the album cover you know your in for some creeps. I would highly recommended this to fans of punk rock." - Melodic.net

"Opening up with the danceable "Dude, Where's My Skin?" Abominations is an eerie roller coaster ride of horror punk, merging the technical aspects and lightning fast guitar riffs of Protest The Hero with the synth melodies of The Epoxies and the general eeriness of The Creepshow and AFI." - ThePunkSite.com

bulletMonty Are I's new video for "Between the Sheets"

Monty Are I are proud to unveil their video for "Between The Sheets," the first single off their Stolen Transmission debut, Wall of People.

The video was done entirely by the band, from beginning to end, last December over two freezing cold Rhode Island nights. They started by scheduling two big holiday shows in their home state and personally assembled a stage, rigged up lighting, and set up the sound for what would become the live concert footage included in the video. They wanted to make sure their most loyal and enthusiastic fans would be part of one of their biggest milestones as a band.

Over the course of the next week, the band conceived a concrete idea for the the video and enlisted friend Chris Faulisi to help them start turning their vision into a "reel" reality.

onty Are I filmed the video at some of their favorite spots in their hometown of Providence. The video features cameos from the band's family and friends, making it very near and dear to their hearts.

After the filming was over, Justin Muir (drums, sampling) spent the next couple weeks editing the video in Final Cut Pro on his laptop. With extremely limited amounts of time, money and resources, Monty Are I managed to accomplish something they are really excited to finally show the whole world. Enjoy!

bulletSchoolyard Heroes - Abominations

Schoolyard Heroes will Eff Your Sh*t Up

Abominations out on Stolen Transmission on September 18

Don't be afraid, embrace the inevitable end, because as Abomination proves, death can be one badass dance party. http://sneakattackmedia.com/sneakimages/news/Schoolyard_Heroes_-_Abominations/SYH_Abominations_cover_EM.jpg

Schoolyard Heroes are NOT for the faint at heart. They're a far cry from the guyliner-smudged, wallowing-in-self-pity emo bands you've been drowned by for the past two years. "We need to go out and destroy everything that is wrong with music right now" announces towering bassist Jonah Bergman. Schoolyard Heroes aren't here to save the day, but, as he describes, they "would like to fuck shit up."

The foundations of this wonderfully weird and wild quartet were first laid in 1999 in a high school in Seattle, WA. Jonah Bergman and Ryann Donnelly became fast friends and very soon afterwards, teamed up with guitarist Steve Bonnell, before completing the line up a year later with the addition of drummer Brian Turner. They toured relentlessly with the likes of Bayside, The Fall Of Troy, Action Action and Vendetta Red, winning fans everywhere they went with their explosive live shows. The band finally found a home in 2007 with Stolen Transmission (The Horrors, Permanent Me, The Photo Atlas.) Just in the past year alone, Schoolyard Heroes has played SXSW, Bamboozle and Bamboozle Left.

This fall, Schoolyard Heroes arrive fully charged and armed with an album to blow your brains out of your ears. Brace yourself for their mighty ST debut, Abominations. Produced by John Goodmanson (Blonde Redhead, The Gossip, Bikini Kill,) the record is both an ambitious and impressive attempt at capturing the horrific parts of human nature with a heavy apocalyptic theme soaking each song like a bloody stain.

"We've always used the horror theme and violent dark imagery as the medium to tell the story in our songs," explains Ryann. "We look at the shitty, gnarly parts of life and instead of dwelling on these dark situations, we celebrate them," adds Jonah. "Instead of being bummed out, we dance!"

bulletSarah Blasko - What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have

SARAH BLASKO RELEASES

WHAT THE SEA WANTS, THE SEA WILL HAVE

ON LOW ALTITUDE

------------------------------------------------------------------------

On September 11, Low Altitude Records (the label that brought us Patrick Wolf and the Noisettes) is set to release Australian Sarah Blasko's second album, What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have. Her sophomore release is a collection of bittersweet songs propelled by her ethereal voice and atmospheric production - a cavernous, haunting presentation recorded live in a converted ballroom.

Sarah's first album, The Overture &the Underscore, launched her into the public consciousness as a purveyor of inventive, intelligent pop music, sparking critical acclaim, a raft of ARIA nominations, a Gold album, sold-out tours (with Ray LaMontagne and Martha Wainwright) and a performance at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. Her sophisticated-yet-dreamy vocals and emotive lyrics evoke comparisons to My Brightest Diamond, Nicole Atkins, St Vincent, and even Radiohead.

bulletCalvin Harris: How to Party Responsibly

There's quite an uproar surrounding Calvin Harris' UK contest "Merrymaking at Your Place" where Calvin is attempting to set a new world record for the most house parties happening simultaneously across the country than ever before. On the evening of the 18th of August Calvin has invited his fans to hold their own Calvin Harris-inspired house parties and Calvin himself will take part in the festivities, embarking on a party crawl and ending his evening playing an acoustic set at the best house party of the night (the winner also gets £1500 in prize money.)

The contest has caused an absolute media frenzy and controversial debates in the UK. National BBC news ran the story and both national broadsheets 'The Times' and 'The Telegraph' have run substantial sized articles on the contest Ñ the story even made the front page of ABC news online in the US.

As a result of all of this hoopla, Calvin was asked to issue a guide on how to party responsibly, and we have included that video here for your viewing and posting pleasure. Pass it on...and party responsibly out there, kids:

HOW TO PARTY RESPONSIBLY: AN EDUCATIONAL

http://sneakattackmedia.com/sneakimages/news/Calvin_Harris:_How_to_Party_Responsibly/m_d6792d92668a588bae834349a6e022b0.jpg

"Hello there, well alot has been made of my attempt to get into the record books with my amazing party extravaganza (that's what i'm calling it nowadays) on August 18th, including various sections of the media outing me as a 'hate figure for parents' which i was trying to keep a secret as i know i have a huge parental fanbase.

That aside, it was suggested that i provide a helpful video blog to set out some key points you should remember when planning your party.

So in order to do this, i nicked my Dad's car, and during my joyride* i took some time out to explain how to party in a responsible manner.

However, i forgot all of the main points bar one, and ended up rambling for about 4 minutes.

Enjoy
*its a joke (in case the Daily Telegraph are reading this)"

bulletBenzos Branch Out

BENZOS' SECOND ALBUM, BRANCHES, IN STORES AUGUST 7th

New York-based quartet Benzos are releasing their second album, Branches, August 7th on Stinky Records. Branches combines the melodic allure of Doves, the sprawling dynamics of Explosions In the Sky and the minimalist yet intense complexity of Aphex Twin, to develop a unique blend of ambient, emotionally resonant guitar and synth instrumentation, "mashed up" with tight, bottom-heavy, intensely funky rhythm section grooves.

Since the release of their debut album, Morning Stanzas, Benzos -- Christian Celaya (guitar/synth/vocals), Brian Joyce (guitar/vocals), Eiko Peck (bass)and Steve Bryant (drums/sampling) -- have built a passionate live following for their heavily improvisational live shows, sharing stages with acts such as She Wants Revenge, Lake Trout, the Benevento-Russo Duo and Phoenix. Co-produced by Woody Ranere of Lake Trout, the new album animates the band's transcendent melodies and complex rhythms with the dynamism and freshness characteristic of their extraordinary live shows.

From the drum n' bass overtones of "Hurt Everybody" to the infectious melodies of "Phase 2" to the dynamic vehemence of "Crooked Hands," Branches engrosses you with transcendent emotions and complex, highly danceable rhythms that leave you wanting more.

Listen to "Hurt Everybody"

"Radiohead are still the undisputed leaders on rock quintets that weave anthemic guitar rock with chilly, electronic programming, but New York's Benzos, one of the most innovative bands coming out of The Big Apple today, could eventually grab the baton..." - Urb Magazine

"With a dramatic swell that hints at Jeff Buckley fronting a visceral emo/jazz outfit, Benzos creates a fascinating synthesis of urban electronic cool and suburban indie heat." - Amplifier Magazine

"Benzos shimmer sweet drum-split and shoegazer misery" - The Village Voice

Upcoming Benzos shows:

bulletCalvin Harris Creates Disco

Just 23 years old and hailing from Dumfries, Scotland, Calvin Harris made his debut album "I Created Disco" in his bedroom on a battered old Amiga computer. Now touring with a full band and an explosive live show, he sets his sights on the US with his debut release for
Almost Gold Recordings on September 4th.

"Acceptable In The 80s," Calvin's first single in both the UK and the US, sparkles with high gloss, glitz and glamour like a disco ball catching the light. A masterpiece of hooks and gushing synths it is a testament to the talent at work.

Listen to "Acceptable in the 80's":

This summer, Calvin Harris, along with Rikki Stixxx (drums), Davey Planecrash (bass), Irving (lead guitar) and Sean vs the robots (keyboards) will kick off his first and already sold out headline tour this July and of course all the summer's festivals including Glastonbury. They've recently wowed 10- 15,000 capacity arena audiences opening up for artists such as Faithless and Groove Armada.

Calvin Harris is making his mark on 2007 in style -- "Disco disappeared, didn't it? Everyone got sick of it. Now I'm reviving it, with space goggles, or something."

"The song titles say it all," he explains. "My tunes aren't supposed to invoke deep thought within people; they're just to get you dancing. But musically it is for the brain - it's not music for stupid people. I take great pride in my productions. It's not knocked out in a few seconds."
